About Filip

Twenty years in the media
I'm Filip De Rycke. A journalist by training, born in Ghent, at home in Brussels by choice.
Journalist and news anchor
For fifteen years I worked at BRUZZ, the Dutch-language media group in Brussels. As news anchor, head of news and chief editor, I covered Brussels, Flanders and Belgium every day. I also worked for French-language media: LN24, RTBF and BX1. Dutch- and French-language channels still regularly ask me to explain Brussels politics.
Moderator and host
I moderate live and hybrid events in English, French and Dutch. Clients include Read My Lips, EBP, ITAA, Voka, FPS Public Health, DG GROW (EU), the EESC, Statbel, InDUfed, BeCoop and Forbes Belgium. Politically charged debates, business conferences, academic forums: the preparation is always the same. I want to know what's on the table, and what's underneath it.
Content strategist
As a journalist I learned to explain a complex file in a few sentences. Now I do that for organisations: a content plan, articles, scripts for podcasts and webinars. I also produce and host podcasts myself.
Public speaking coach
I help professionals who are facing a presentation, an interview or a panel. What do you say first, where do you leave a silence, how do you handle an awkward question?
Documentary maker
I have also made documentaries, and won the National Geographic Travel Prize.
How I work
I write and speak without clichés. I ask the question the room wants to hear, even when it's uncomfortable. And I make sure the speakers want to come back afterwards.
